Guest uiert
Love this tune, does it exist solely as a live version or is there a studio recording of it? Same goes for the track Zurich 2001. Thanks! Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/ Share on other sites
thehauntingsoul
MCR quarter was included on the Japanese release of Confield as a bonus track. The recording is not soundboard though so it's likely the exact same recording you have. /thread Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide thehauntingsoul's signature Hide all signatures Last.fm SteamID: Thehauntingsoul My EP Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/#findComment-1211916 Share on other sites

Zurich is a live recording; sourced from an mp3 no less (which is obvious if you look at the spectrum). It is the worst 'bonus' track I have ever heard by far... Guest uiert
;-) I am constantly trying to get my collection of Ae to contain as much of their work as possible. New bits and pieces seem to surface the more I look... Next on the horizon could be those unreleased recordings mentioned on the forums a good while ago. http://forum.watmm.c...ds&showfile=812 While I love their later works, the earlier ( more organic some might say ) releases are the ones that brought me in in the first place ( Amber Incu.. ) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/#findComment-1212488 Share on other sites
thehauntingsoul
If you're feeling a good Ae sidequest you should look on soulseek for the Ae remix collection, I found it conveniently sorted into 4 separate albums (Autechre Remix Collection 1-4). It's missing a few of the more recent ones but it'll give you a hell of a good listen. Also if you haven't heard the unreleased Autechre radio promo mix you should definitely check that out, although I think all of the tracks from it are in that collection of remixes I mentioned. Happy hunting! Guest Greg Reason
MCR Quarter is good enough quality an it's a wonderful piece of music. Zurich doesn't sound so flash but it's quick and it sounds improvised so I think maybe they just thought it was a fun little thing to throw on the end. A bit of an odd bonus track though, I agree. Guest Greg Reason
It was the bonus track tacked onto the end of the Japanese edition of Untilted Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/#findComment-1229936 Share on other sites
Guest uiert
Sublimit is a hard act to follow, awesome track. I shall have a go at Zurich 2001 then. Guest Greg Reason
Nowhere near as good as 'Sublimit' - or any proper ae track. I think it's best taken separately from the record, it's not really part of the Untilted thing and is in substantially lesser sound quality. Blir
On the subject of extra tracks. What's the untitled track before Rpeg like? I've never heard it, but it's 6 minutes so it must have some depth or development to it? Listening to Medrey for the first time, it's really good! I actually think it would make a better album closer than Rsdio. It does develop a bit; it drops into a spacious section near the middle then seems like it tries to lurch off again with some crispier percussive textures but it sort of lopes about without ever properly taking off. It's well worth tracking down. edit: the version I have is four minutes and it comes to a proper close at the end so I don't know about any six minute versions... Blir
You've got the right one? Not all versions of EP7 have it. I plan to track down the original pretty soon. I've got so many things to add to my AE collection still... Doesn't feel right having just the albums and EP's without being a completist and getting the Japanese versions, remixes etc etc. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/#findComment-1230230 Share on other sites
BobDobalina
The ep7 hidden pre-track is nothing to get your panties in a bunch over, not really a song but pretty much the same sort of sound manipulation a lot of the tracks from lp5 would end on. Also if you have a north american pressing your CD doesn't have it. easy enough to find on soulseek though Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide BobDobalina's signature Hide all signatures CA$HNE$$ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/52414-mcr-quarter-zurich-2001/#findComment-1230234 Share on other sites
