1 month and 7 days

so today my new laptop of 1 month and 7 days got the blue screen of death and the hard-drive toasted itself, its a massive wtf.

lucky enough i backed up everything just yesterday, but its a fucker how a laptop can self destruct in so little time.

i have a manufacturers guarantee so it'll be fixed or replaced in the next 2 days.

thing is love windows 7 so much and going back to this shity aptop with xp is horrile. i never thought id say that.

Mmmmmmmmmh toasted hard drive.

Is Windows 7 actually worth it? I'm happy enough with XP, it does everything I need it to really so I don't feel like looking into 7...

I got my current laptop, a HP about 3 years ago and exactly the same thing happened, within a week of it arriving.

They obviously replaced it within a few days, but it does make you wonder....

my 13 year old brother's Compaq laptop died a few months back, had to get it taken in for a motherboard and CPU replacement. works ok now.

of course, his constant (and i mean constant, like at least 8 hours per day, every day) game playing of games such as TF2, L4D etc didn't do much to help, considering the laptop really can't handle those games too well in the first place.

as a side note, your current laptop that's running XP may be able to handle Windows 7 - my Asus EeePC runs Windows 7 quite well even though it's specs are quite conservative

my sister's HP is rather shit also.

my $500, 2-year-old Acer is still kickin on just fine. in fact, i'm thinking about getting a new HDD for it just so I can keep it another two.
