kanarie
Just some chunks of me fiddling with the knobs. Guest bigs
303 generation had a really nice intro, but got really trancey around 1:20 or so and i kind of lost interest. theres a lot of cool stuff going on with the layering, but it could use some more movement to make it exciting. weaker tweaker suffers from lack of movement as well... we get stuck with a single loop that gets more layers as we go on. the really frantic drone that comes in around 1:15 or so is nice, but not enough to justify having the same 303 line running the entire song. 2010 was certainly my favorite. it has a little more movement in the progression of things as well as a much catchier bass line - still pretty predictable in its build ups and doesn't really go anywhere. all three of these songs seem to revolve around the same idea: you've got some pulsey bass line and in between its "pulses" you fade in a higher pitched synth to accent the bass line. the degree to which this is repeated makes me feel like you probably should take one of these ideas and run with it! try to move away from the main loops -- think of a story to tell with the song! these are all very well produced, but are missing some crucial content! keep at it! Cheers for your detailed comments! Yes i'm aware the songs lack development/progression. i've been trying to develop a more 'live' approach to making music, these were all done in very little time / effort by themselves. Building the 8-track sampler/looper and doing endless tweaking on the fx chains is where all the effort has gone, while the musicality is still lacking attention. Work in progress! acidphakist
I liked the trancey gateness of the first track, the sound showed potential without being cheesy. The overall sound of these is quite well-produced, but I agree with dude above: they don't go anywhere. Doing something as simple as introducing a brand new acid line halfway and then shifting back to the original would take these much further. Good effort and keep at it. I like your general feel and will tune in for more.
