what is it with small-timers hiring promoters to spam new and upcoming releases

I can understand it. I always feel like an ass spamming my shit to people, hence why I never do it... but this probably hinders me a fair bit. I remember getting a lot of flack for advertising my music when I first started posting on forums years ago, so I haven't done much since. Which is pretty dumb in retrospect.

Where are all these promoters for hire?

IRARI, I'm sure the people you mentioned 1st are probably the actual artist, but don't have a username that reflects it. I dunno though.

if they are i don't think they should pretend to be somebody else, that's a bitch move

i can say things like this because i don't plan to ever try to make a living from music

not that my music is anything special but i truly honestly feel that music should be free

i don't think this is a problem at all. we usually prefer that a member/fan posts about a new release but if a label that presses vinyl/cd of their releases posts then unless its their first post i'll usually let it stay. however if its a net release and i've never heard of the artist then its gone, unless its for sale on bleep or other type place
