Guest Martin
I don't know the proper protocol of what to say when I just joined this forum here so I will just say 'Hi'. Now here's the thing: ... or actually two things: Firstly, I have always sucked at musical genres and I'd really like someone more proficient in this respect to categorize the music I am making. So far I keep calling it 'soft electronica'. I'm not sure that's correct, though. But it most certainly is electronic and it most certainly is soft. Secondly and even more importantly, I seek some honest feedback which I find rather hard to obtain elsewhere. I need _all_ feedbacks I can get, including negative ones, preferably in constructive fashion. Any guidance on how to make my stuff sound better is also very welcome. The link is here - please check especially the first two tracks in the list, and of course any of the others if you like. Thanks in advance! Guest illfly mandog
I would say electronica is fair. my opinion= good melody and structure but it sounds like preset sounds to me. Guest illfly mandog
as opposed to designing a sound with a synth or what have you. Well to a certain extent this is the case - it's made in MU.LAB (software sequencer, web is here). So far, I have been indeed using rather limited range of sounds available there. However, I always tried to modify the stuff (the curve and the parameters which are often quite many) to suit my needs. Obviously, this is not enough - question is, how to make better sounds? There is some sort of modular sound generation but tbh I don't understand how it works at all nor do I know any source from where i could learn it - the software documentation does not cover that. In fact, I would be most happy with just acquiring a huge databank of sounds because what I want to do is to make them work together, not to make sounds themselves. Any insights, links to web sources or recommendation? Thanks for responses, it's appreciated. M. But thanks for your input, I guess I could contact keyboard manufacturing companies and offer them a new demo for their merchandise ;). So I spent some time learning some basics of sound synthesis and then tried to play a little with inner workings of sound generator in mulab. I tweaked several instruments and made a few new ones and finally made a new track out of it. Can you guys please check, if it's any less 'presety'? It's the topmost track on music.glimpse.cz. It's probably far from perfect yet I hope there is at least some improvement...
