It's so funny how the definition of classic rock changes through the years and is interpreted differently by different people. For instance, I'm shocked to see some of the names above associated with Classic Rock. Especially Skinny Puppy & Kraftwerk, but several others as well.

I consider most classic rock pre-80s, with the occasional exception.

I can remember the first time I heard Guns N Roses on a classic rock station. That made me feel old.

Definitely pink floyd, hendrix, the doors, sabbath, bowie, kinks, t rex, zeppelin, neil young and all that.

But don't forget the shit that comes on that you don't worship but don't change the channel on, either...

I think of shit like AC/DC, ZZ Top, Steve Miller Band, Rush, Yes, Journey, Skynard, Eagles, Cheap Trick, Styx, Steppenwolf, Jethro Tull, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, The Guess Who, Survivor and Gary Glitter.

They might all rock, but that doesn't mean they are rock. :emotawesomepm9:

Deep Purple. Especially their Made in Japan live album. They were so good. I'd still love to see them live some day.

This might sound weird but I've actually drawn a few similarities between certain parts of that album and Ceephax's Exidy Tours.

I grew up listening to classic rock on the radio. Can't say I love it anymore, I don't find it very exciting now that I've broadened my tastes. Still, I will always look for a CR station when on road trips. It's probably the best stuff still being consistently played on radios.

Some favorites

The Beatles

The Who

The Animals

The Band

The Cars

The Moody blues

Led Zep

Developing an interest in Yes lately as well. Chris Squire's 'Fish Out Of Water' album was pretty hot.

Indeed. And Yes' Fragile and The Yes Album are two of my favorite 'classic rock' albums.

Might I suggest you check out Khan's Space Shanty if you like that Chris Squire album.

Yup, I like all those. But I enjoy The Yes Album more than everything except Fragile. It's less self-indulgent, more to the point. Tales From Topographic Oceans does have some of the best Yes moments, but it's twice as long as it needs to be.

Thanks for the recommendations. I grew up with Yes as my brother was really into them, but it never clicked til recently. Gonna be checking this lot out.

This is where I lose any and all cred I may ever have had on this forum but... not only do I love Yes (I grew up with it, my dad used to listen to them a lot and I'd lie on the floor and look at the album covers)

I REALLY LOVE STEVE HILLAGE.

Fish Rising is just such a beautifully produced album. Also Green.

::hangs head in shame::
