I love Untilted, but this is the worst track Autechre have made in a long while imho. Not because it's more accessible or because we've heard that minor/major chord change thing so often from them - but just because it sounds so "weak". Apart from the crazy ending and the droney bit after... that's pretty cool.

Why can't anyone give this track a break? I like it - definitely not one of their best tracks so I'm in agreement with most over that - but it fits in well with the album and doesn't look too out of place.

i think my main issue with this song is that its what was on the warp page in the weeks leading up to the release of untilted. every time i went to the page the beginning was on and i found it extremely annoying.

I presume all the haters haven't heard this on a big system? Seriously, with the volume cranked this track makes a lot more sense.

still not that great on a big system

Seriously? It really made me think a lot more of it... much more sharp and generally cutting through everything else.

This track is outta control good! It's got that truly psychedelic folding-over-itself cyclical rhythm that makes my heart pitter patter and my mind go nova. You know the type of rhythm i'm talkin about, and if you don't then  . Autechre use this type of groove in a lot of their music, especially live. Their live stuff is constantly bubbling and heaving with that hallucinogenic flow. When the groove relaxes at 1:17 on Fermium it's just so great i cannot properly express it. Gets me movin and be-boppin for sure. Autechre are clearly masters of the cyclical and psychotropic feelings that certain rhythms produce. Also true masters of breaking a flow then reinstating it immediately to amazing effect.
