I went to a kid koala show where he said, via giant cue card, that new deltron was on the way. That was about 3 years ago.

deltron is a robot that tries to fight back against the overly corporate government who are (surprise surprise) corrupt. The world is generally dystopian I'm guessing. In the meantime he also enters in a super intergalactic rap battle competition, and I think he wins. I don't know if he saves the world by doing so though.

good album though, easier plot to follow than dr. octagonecologyst

"The album follows Deltron Zero's fight against an oppressive government and powerful corporations, while also battling to be the Galactic Rhyme Federation Champion."

Yeah, the new track isn't on the album but it's pretty good I think.

Album's finally finished apparently, due out in the next few months. This makes me excited, I doubt it'll reach the lofty heights of the first but I'm excited all the same.

The plot of the first Deltron is as follows:

Deltron is a hacker/renegade/ex-mech pilot who is on the run from authorities because he feels the world has become too dystopian. He is a social commentator and moaner. He and his trusty AI Automator partake and succeed in a galactic rap battle that allows him the cash to leave his spacestation after being sacked from his job for taking a sick day so he can return to Earth and smoke some herb, after all he's sick of looking at the inside of spacestations. He encounters a pretty girl at a desk who he talks to via an android with synthesized dialect and it's heavily implied he forms a close relationship with her and the following album will be a concept album about their break up, divorce and child custody lawsuit. This story takes place against a backdrop of an alien invasion on Earth, led by the son of the competitor he killed in the final of the galactic rap battle.

Pumped for this - apparently St. Catherine Street has become a stronghold of the alien halfbreed post-christian fundamentalists too, but only in holographic form.

A couple of weeks ago my friend was telling me that he realized the plot of Deltron 3030 could of been made into a early 00s video game. He mentioned how novel Jet Set Radio Future and Parappa the Rapper were, and it could of easily fit in that niche. I think he plans to write a long and detailed synopsis about it at some point. He's something of a underground/indie hip-hop aficionado so I'd be interested to see what he comes up with.

Speaking of the new Deltron release, it's going to be released in conjunction with a new Dogfish Head brew is called “Positive Contact.” Here's a description of the beer:

  Quote
Named after a key track on the first album, Positive Contact is a 9% ABV hybrid of beer and cider brewed with wood-pressed Fuji apples, roasted farro, a handful of cayenne peppers and a late dose of fresh cilantro. This sweet-and-sour Belgian-ish brew is a light straw color with fruity, cider-like notes. The cayenne and alcohol give it a warming finish. The beer will be released in a dynamic box set of six 750-ml champagne bottles, with a 10-inch vinyl EP of four new Deltron 3030 remixes created exclusively for this project, and a list of Deltron 3030-inspired recipes from a small group of renowned chefs (see below). Invite some friends over, rock the album, drink the beer and whip up a multi-course meal. It’s a house party in a box.
