where'd the downloads section go?

It's gone until we can secure more disk space. We'd basically have to double our monthly hosting cost ($40/month) to cover the extra space needed. If someone wants to put up the $480 for 2010, I'll bring it back today :)

Just a thought... could we create a pinned and locked thread that just posts links to mirrors? Maybe do a Mediafire, Megaupload, and Rapidshare mirror for each download? That way you're not hosting it and no one can add silly links.

fwiw I have 2.5 gigs of storage on my dropbox. I'm pretty sure there's no cap to the bandwidth on it either because I half-assedly scoured the site and found no mention of that. I'd be more than willing to donate a nice large chunk of that towards hosting a bunch of the downloads. I'm thinking like 1-1.5 gigs or so. Also other wattmers could help by getting me to send you referrals and then signing up for dropbox, because we both get an extra half gig for me referring you. That way, if I get another couple of referrals I can just donate the extra storage towards the downloads.

EDIT: Just to clarify, no, you don't need this program or an account to download the files or anything, just to upload/host.

Plus I'll feel like I've done something around here besides cause lots of  s

edit for information about dropbox:

  Quote
Dropbox is software that syncs your files online and across your computers.

Put your files into your Dropbox on one computer, and they'll be instantly available on any of your other computers that you've installed Dropbox on (Windows, Mac, and Linux too!) Because a copy of your files are stored on Dropbox's secure servers, you can also access them from any computer or mobile device using the Dropbox website.

The Dropbox client enables users to drop any file into a designated folder that is then synced to the cloud and to any other of the user's computers with the Dropbox client. Files in the Dropbox folder may then be shared with other Dropbox users or accessed from the web. Users may also upload files manually through a web browser.

It has a this public folder where you can host things for direct download, works like rapidshare and stuff but it uploads & downloads much faster.

Dropbox Site, make sure you get me to pm you if you're going to sign up though because the referral has to be indicated while you do.

We've got about 32 gigs of downloads. And they need to be accessible via FTP to work with the downloads section.

I just mean if you have the links listed next to the download descriptions. I mean 32 Gigs IS a lot but we could get a good chunk of them up for the mean time. It would take about 22 people to hold all of that up though, including the referrals and shit if everyone gives 1 gig out of their 2.5. If people just feel like signing up to donate ALL of their space, that would be awesome too.

I just feel that having them up, even if it's in some MacGyvered mirror-hosted setup, and incomplete, is better than not having them up at all. I feel like I've used too many commas in the previous sentence, I dunno maybe not though.

Why all that trouble for 2 users who just posted for their first time on WATMM?

Yeah because obviously they will be the only 2 users who ever need to access those downloads........terrible, just terrible.

I'm uploading 2001 Canada, 2005 Glasgow, 2007 Hembsby, and 2008 Los Angeles to my dropbox right now, I'll post the links here as soon as they are done.

edit: I chopped up the '05, '07, and '08 shows into separate tracks just so that when I burn it to CD I can navigate the recording reasonably in the car. Never got around to doing that for the '01 show tho.

2001 Toronto, Canada

2005 Glasgow

2007 Hembsby

2008 Los Angeles

yeah it sure is, and it varies pretty significantly depending on where they play (unlike the sets from 2005-2008)

it sounds like they are basically using their most awesome generative beat making max/msp patches ever

any other sets worth checkin? all the soundboard recordings that are out and about make it really hard listening to audience recordings.

on top of what thehauntingsoul posted, the 1993 birmingham and 1996 flex shows are also incredibly juicy (and soundboard).

i had (or possibly still have) 2-3 soundboard recordings taken from the LP5, EP7 and Chichisuite era

i posted them back in watmm around 2005 after untilted came out. fuck i wish i still had those. they had several unreleased tracks as well as very long and significantly dancier versions of some of the album tracks

edit: ill check my archives to see if i can find them

i would kill to get a flac/wav of it (same with toronto 2001 & glasgow 2005).

there is also a nice gescom/ae set from 2002 floating around.
