Right so there was a headphones thread but Ive a pair of HD201's and theyre fine for in the gaf.

But I usually get earphones for out and about. A pair of headphones have never lasted more than 3or4 months for me. The connection between the wire and the jack ALWAYS comes loose and you'd be fiddling around with it trying to get sound in both earphone.

So the question is: Is there a decent pair of earphones that would stand up to intense wear and tear for a reasonable price?

If the problem is the jack becoming loose, you can easily fix that and replace the jack with a better quality one for like $2.

Either way, I've personally enjoyed the JVC in ear headphones for a while, but be careful with them it's hard to tell how loud the volume is and you can turn yourself deaf...

pretty good deal, really comfortable and they sound amazing. great for mixing, too. i've had mine for about a year now, dropped them plenty of times and they are still solid.

These are the headphones I use to master with. They sound really nice especially when listening to solidly mastered tracks like AFX, but IMO a lot of music (especially stuff that isn't bass heavy) don't sound that great so I wouldn't use them for general music listening (unless you only listen to AFX and well produced bass heavy tracks). I also use a pair of Sennheiser HD500s which are more consumer market headphones and they're really bass heavy so they'd be better for general listening.

And yeah BCM seems so, at least you can still get their stuff at Futureshop. If you're wondering here are the headphones that I have: JVC headphones at futureshop

i think they sound great for general listening. really nice sound stage, glistening highs, crisp mids, and the bass is warm and tight. i definitely agree that they aren't bass heavy, but i'd rather have the bass be accurate rather than loud. using an EQ can give you as much bass as you need though.

Yes. After much research I come to the conclusion that this is probably the best answer. Although Im not very good a soldering Im sure I could manage, Im lucky I dont have sony's I heard theyre aweful to solder because of some extra wire coating.
