It's funny, he's one of those people that by all rights, I really should love. He's a combination of two of my favourite things - shoegazing and electronic music. This should have my name all over it. But his remixes do just kind of leave me cold. It's odd.

He's enjoyable live; I've seen him nearly a dozen times because he keeps supporting shoegaze acts around London.

And he's a FANTASTIC DJ. His sets are always beautiful and amazing and interesting.

And he's a lovely bloke, really polite, really friendly.

But his remixes just don't do it for me. So you can all flame me off the thread now. I really wish I liked them better.

i love Ulrich, all of his albums are in my semi-regular rotation.

i can see what you are saying about his remixes though, save a few i really have not been to impressed

..however, here is one that caught my ear and of course it is not on the album... wtf?

this one seems a bit better then the rest..

i want to hear him remix aus, i can't seem to find that one. most of the remixes that are going to be

on Missing Deadlines are floating around YouTube if anyone wants to preview them.

It's funny because almost all of the B-sides on Sonic Cathedral singles are either Robin Guthrie remixes or Ulrich Schnauss remixes. The Guthrie ones are quite hit and miss, too - but when they're on they're AMAZING (really loved his remix of My Cabal for School of Seven Bells).

Maybe Hanratty is right, they're too polished and pretty. Part of what's great about this music is the contrast between wibbling prettiness and great slabs of distorted noise. Even Schnauss's NOIZE is as polished as a slab of marble.

But then, when he goes and does something like Medusa live and he's pounding his MIDI controller and making Beethoven faces and the floor is shaking, that's really amazing.

Oh man, this is fucking ace news! Ulrich's one of the my favourite remixers, as I love the way he injects the source material with that beautiful sound of his. I've actually got every single one of those already barring the Mark Gardener remix, but it's great to be getting these in a proper release and in high quality.

Personal faves from the bunch (though they're all good) are the remixes of Madrid, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and Dragons. Shame the recent remix od Scott Walker isn't there, but hey ho.

I stumbled across his Glade 2008

podcast.

Some of the most blissful stuff I've ever heard. But not a tracklist anywhere to be found. Actually found this thread while searching for one.

I am hoping that some of the tracks included on this mix are remixes and are included on the above compilation.

I'm at the stage where I'd post snippets of it to facebook asking people to do track IDs.

i feel this way about his entire catalogue. on paper it's a dream, but i can't, for the life of me, stay awake through any of his albums. he's too polite -- totally lacking adventure and inventiveness. i'd play it for babies no problem though.

at least this would've been good for a laugh if it were one of scott's later tracks.

Scott Walker remix you say? I'd love to hear that!

Just go to his myspace page, it's playing there.

Tis a lovely album indeed.

You probably know this already, xxx, but Ulrich has said that the new album he's currently working on is going back more to his electronic roots. He said he wants it to be a love letter to the synthesiser, and that he wants to step away from making music that tries to replicate guitars electronically.

I'm actually a big fan of Goodbye, and for me it sits comfortably alongside his earlier work. If he wants to explore his electronic roots more in his new album, then that's no bad thing as far as I'm concerned.

this is splendid news. i enjoy ulrich back/forth and sideways. a future trip back to his past would please me very much.

just getting around to listening to this now. warm, bubbly and thought provoking-setting sun is so so so good.

the whole album is amazing. i am not a fan of vocals in music so much unless they have just the right sound to appeal

to my ear-schnauss knows how to process vocals just right-i am completely and totally into his style.
