Aliens vs Predator

 

Anyone playing it yet? Is it worth buying? I can't play the demo as I don't have a gold account to play it on Xbox Live.

 

It does look rather awesome, but I never played the past games so I don't have any experience with these games. Aliens: Colonial Marines is the game I really want to play, but I doubt whether that'll ever really happen.

this game is much better on PC, graphics on my PC look better than Crysis. Feels and plays great. I think they balanced the species perfectly.

i think it looks pretty good - i've got a ps3 so will have a look at the demo or something over the next couple of days.

heard it's crap, haven't played it myself though.

 

i read something about how, according to gearbox software, the release of aliens: colonial marines depends entirely on the success of avp. if it's a major hit, colonial marines is cancelled. dunno if it's just a rumor though ..

I heard that the contract was cancelled, but that Gearbox continued to make the game hoping that someone else would pick it up once the best, most lucrative, game ever was completed.

 

I don't see a lot of truth behind that though because they've probably been side-tracked by projects they're actually getting paid for.

Those who have consoles and say it looks good don't get so happy. Most of those screenshots are DX11 Enabled and on a PC. Perhaps its better than Crysis for now but Crysis 2 not likely.

the gameplay is really good IMO im pretty confused by the bad reviews but yes this game does look and play a lot better on PC.

i have it. lack of dedicated servers for multiplayer is fucking stupid. it uses matchmaking, and is really shit because of lag / hosts ragequitting.

 

also there are definitely some issues with the game graphically locking up for seconds at a time (sometimes upwards of 15-20secs midgame).

, nope i am definitely not the only one. there's also another bug where you'll fall through the level (as if you had noclipped) and you die. sometimes this will happen at checkpoints, and you'll just repeatedly fall through and die.

 

apart from these issues, the game is pretty good actually. Rebellion need to do some serious fucking bug fixing though, and make good on their promise of dedicated multiplayer servers - p2p matchmaking bullshit is just that: bullshit.

Aside from the many flaws it does have (Short and fairly shit Single players, Terrible lobby system & party system) this is a hell of a lot of fun on multiplayer. Played it just over 3 hours online and its a really good laugh, especially when you've some friends going on it too.
