chassis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du-tt5tZimY Looks fairly sweet. Ive been wanting something to use with a more dj feel to it. But I fairly reluctant to get a full on Midi decks because, to me, they seem to have a narrow range of use i.e. use them only for djing. Does anyone have this or something like it and would it be good enough to replace my 25 key controller? Or should I just say fuck it and use my midi controller and stop being a bitch. kcinsu
How about the apc40 or apc20 by akai? While you can use the lp to control volume and other paramter levels, you'll quickly desire more than 8 steps. The apc40 adds knobs and a xfade, so also great for hands on... But doesn't have other mods. The apc20 on the other hand has midi note mode, and 2-3 user modes for the knobs. Both require power supplies though. If you're looking to just trigger things, the lp is great. acid1
i LOVE my apc but it does require external power. Its also hanging off my desk with its enormous size. Guest spraaaa
this might sound stupid but... I don't really get what's the appeal of this style of controller, or a monome. do you just work with tons of clips in ableton, or what do you see yourself using it for? I have an mpd16 that I mostly use as a keyboard, but I haven't been as much into ableton while I've had it. Silent Member
I was thinking about getting this, but I'm not sure I'd find it very usefull for my workflow. Blinking lights are neat though. Whenever I upgrade to max for live I can probably set it up to do fun things. The ideal workflow for Ableton involves recording yourself launching scenes via the session view. This turns the interactive process of launching clips and improving into a classic left-to-right arrangement you can then mess with further. Classically you'd use your mouse to launch of scene or a clip, but what if you want to launch a scene, deactivate one of the clips being launched, and mess with a cut off knob all at the same time? What if you only want to launch 3 out of the 15 clips in a scene and fade out a couple channels on your mixer? chassis
^Cool for chopping breaks too. That takes ages with a mouse. Guest blicero
i'm kinda sick of ableton. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/53799-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1254370 Share on other sites
Guest SyrFox
I'm thinking about getting this. I've been meaning to start using Ableton for a while but I don't like just playing with the mouse to launch clips and stuff. This looks exactly like what I needed Edited February 26, 2010 by SyrFox Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/53799-novation-launchpad/#findComment-1254379 Share on other sites

acid1
Someone should create a thread instead about dedicated controllers for renoise. Ah, I was wondering if anyone else here had a Maschine. I don't use my Maschine like this, but I have set my APC40 up to work like a monome in Ableton. It's shocking how simple it is.
