Do tsunami's get bigger over distances? I know there's a relation between the depth of the sea-floor and how high they are, but I'm just wondering whether this is actually a serious warning or not.

Also, yeah, fuck Australia.

If I'm correct then as it reaches the larger depths it will lessen significantly, and therefore only Hawaii may be in trouble.

There is a giant ass iceberg that broken off the Antarctic continent.

i was lying on my futon half asleep late last night and felt the vibrations from the one off of okinawa, was very subtle, like very faint subsonic pulsing. kind of like when we used to drive around looking for the rave when you dont quite know where it is and you feel it before you hear it.

also we had another earthquake last sunday in hiroshima as well, quite a mild one. i'm actually getting a little bit freaked with all these earthquakes lately. not fucking cool living near a major active fault line...

We've had little, tiny, earthquakes in England that I've felt. Although I was a little concerned at the time I told myself it was a truck passing the house. Really strange though. A vibration of everything at once, even yourself. A large one must be utterly terrifying.

And when the Buncefield Oil Storage Facility exploded in 2005 I felt that from 40 miles away. Thought it was an underground train passing.

I also live on a fault line... Really don't want to slide into the ocean, or have the ocean slide on to us!

Hey buddy, I live a block away from the ocean!

whoa

it's a shame people have to die in earthquakes. the geologist in me becomes elated whenever a big one happens, but i feel guilty because people die and shit

wicked, an Argie on here! what's going on in the press about Las Malvinas at your end? i had to do some presentation on future oil supplies etc. a few days ago, the Falklands oil thing popped into the news at the perfect time.

it is unseasonally warm up here. we typically get a couple week stint in february of warm weather, but it briskly drops down to -40. it's been hovering around 0 for about a month now, it's insane.
