Ripping music off your ipod?

i got a program that everybody said was the best one for doing this and it turns out that while YES it can rip all of your music off your ipod successfully , each file

s name will be encrypted (random letters and numbers) and each folder that contains these encrypted names is also encrypted and contains a random selection of tracks.

if someone actually knows how to get id3 tags and file names OFF of an ipods music collection i would be very appreciativ

awepittance, what program did you use? I found one that i'm trying right now called CopyTrans.

I have an 80 gig classic, so this is my deal:

I plug it up, open my computer, and select my ipod

I enable viewing hidden folders, and go into ipod_control

click on the music folder

search -> artist/album

wait a while

drag and drop the files into itunes

then itunes automatically formats the files according to the tags found on the file

pretty sure you can just install it on your iPod too so that you can connect it to any PC and transfer music from it. Lets you choose folder options if I recall as well...

Yep, I've used that to get music of a friends iPod onto my 'puter. Works a charm

wait, can you not just install itunes, plug in ipod, set it to sync music and all the files will be transferred to your PC with correct names and tags etc.

I could be wrong (I don't and will never own an iPod thankyouverymuch) but I think it'll sync the iPod with the blank media list on iTunes thus wiping the iPod

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

wait what? you can't copy music from the ipod to the computer?! it's only possible to copy from computer to ipod? wtf is that shit. lol fuck apple.

the biggest illusion is yourself

you take the output lead of your ipod to the 'left' and 'right' rca sockets labelled 'cassette in' on your amplifier.

you play the loudest part of a track and set the 'record level' on the tapedeck along with the bias for the particular kind of d90 you are looking for.

start the cassette recording and after about 8 secoinds, start your ipod.

you can store about an album's worth on each side of one of these cassettes. and due to their compact nature, they don't take up much space.

as for tagging, you can 'batch process' the tagging for each album simply by writing a list of the tracks present on the handy insert cards that come with most cassettes.

i hope that helps.

there was a program called ipod disk or ipod drive or something like that, it was for mac but it did exactly what you want. there are some for pc too, just a matter of googling a bit.

depending on your model you could install rockbox on it allowing you to use it as s disk drive eliminating the problem altogether.

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!
