speakers

i know these kind of threads are so boring and redundant but maybe just one more would be helpful to us all.

I have a little desk for my laptop and I want some speakers that I can put on a somewhat weak shelf right above it. Basically I'd like something that goes from laptop/ipod to speaker without a receiver/amp, isn't crazy expensive or heavy, but still sounds good. any recommendations? I've heard that Bose is not good, but who/what is good?

For 100 bucks they look fucking ape.

the only thing is they are 28 pounds for two. I'm not sure if my shelf can handle it.

Reinforceing the shelff too much of a problem??? My only priority in this situation would by bang for a buck . I have never regretted buying good speakers, m-audios are nice

ive been looking for some good speakers that can run off batteries. i think i made a thread about it before but i didnt get any good responses. maybe someone can help me in here.

i have been lookin for a while, i just want something that is decent quality, battery powered, and is small enough that i can carry around. not one of those singular ipod dock things, i need the two separate speakers.
