kaini
http://www.icce.rug.nl/~soundscapes/DATABASES/AWP/awp-notes_on.shtml i downloaded this from some long-forgotten FTP server on my local university's network using some random FTP program and netscape 1.0 when i was still in secondary school. whilst ian mcdonald's revolution in the head tells the story, these are like the technical details. dissection of chord sequences and solos and very detailed musical analyses of the beatles' work. i'm very happy to stumble across these again. i mean, just look at this analysis of i am the walrus. or this, for strawberry fields forever. and he pretty much does this for every song. tipper
I like the Revolution #9 one. http://www.icce.rug.nl/~soundscapes/DATABASES/AWP/r9.shtml Quote As one of the more infamous achievements of the mid twentieth century avant garde, this form of musical composition challenges the listener on both psychological and philosophical grounds. The extent to which the pervasive ambiguity of content teases the listener into projecting a personalized vision of continuity onto the music opens up a radical new dimension to the experience we call "listening". Similarly, the extent to which the background "noise" of real life provides the same kind of narrative ambiguity if we bother to attend to it as thoughtfully as we do to so-called music, then the line between what we call a "composition" and what is merely "random noise" is significantly blurred if not eradicated.
