help design a logo/banner for my friend's film blog

he needs a new logo/banner to replace the existing pixelated film reel thing he's using just now... so i think something with either a strong light or dark area in 1 lower corner where he can put the title text.

the brief is open... it can be something obvious and literal like the existing film reel or something more obscure if you like as long as it pertains to film somehow... maybe manipulate a classic scene or character from film or make a montage of classics...

all will be considered and much appreciated (including the inevitable watmm nonsense). the reward is huge and it's in my trousers.

What's his favourite films?

have a look at his blog for an idea... he's actually obsessively into asian cinema but didn't want to alienate readers by making it too specialised in that field... he intends it to be a more anything goes, general film blog with broad appeal, about interesting, iconic cinema from around the world... classics of old and new.

whats the banner size?

the one he's using is 780 x 200 pixels

haha, that's easily rectified. i thought he could write the names of the featured films onto the blank labels.

here's a few real quick. i thought it might be cool to have several with different movie scenes.

that's a good idea! he could rotate them when he uploads new content.

A film blog that I do read called Twitchfilm does this, everytime you refresh the page its a different film.

it's a great idea but i'm not sure if he's got the web chops to implement that sort of thing in his own blog.

i agree with your first 2 but not on your final point. plum's is by far the best also imo.

a screenshot, well realised with a fine typeface would be great. i think my night of the hunter 1 is good.
