Well at long last the opening rounds are here and tournament play has officially begun! The top 64 teams were voted on by you and I and are now seeded 1-16 in four divisions. Here's a look at the bracket and how the teams have been seeded:

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=356845

So, scroll through the poll and simply pick the winner of each match. The winner will advance to the next round and so on until we have crowned the most IDM thing of 2010. Each round lasts about a day so I'll close the poll and start the next round around this time tomorrow.

We have some very compelling matchups so don't miss out on any of the action!

GO!

Ulillilililila is taking an early beating, could be one of the biggest upsets in tournament history! Strandbeest drew a tough matchup with factories at night but came to dance, rest assured! unexploded WW2 bombs... dont sleep on them, they have a lot of poise! could go off any minute!

In previous years we established that the following things don't qualify as "IDM":

  • References to actual electronic musicians (too tautologous and literal)
  • References to sex and girls (the lack of will always be more IDM)
  • The latest meme that you think is funny

I'm seeing examples of all the above in this year's matchup which leads me to think we have n00bs stinking up the joint as usual. This is for "The Most IDM Thing" guys. Stay focussed.

fuck me there's some epic matches in there.

ulillillia and hawking are walk-ins (i'm sure ulillillia will gain over time, it takes him ages to do anything).

go sagan! go mandelbulb! :emotawesomepm9:

and carbon nanotubes and david bowie in space, wtf happened to you?

People not voting for Ulillillia can only be people too lazy to have ever checked out the website.

For God's sake read the website and make an informed choice

"Sitting down in the shower" - what's this faggot bullshit? Thats got nothing to do with IDM and everything to do with being some kind of emo faggot pussy.

ulillillia is a huge faggot. he's chiptunes.

chiptunes is somebody writing a novel with 8bit RPG references and HTML colour codes because they're being an ironic hipster.

Ulillillia did it because he has aspergers and is actually obsessed with that shit. That's fucking IDM.

'Mobius Strip' would lead to some very novel IDM-producing techniques, although it would be hard to know where to begin and where to end.

god, i'd love to see fractal broccoli (the correct name is romanesco broccoli btw) vs mandelbulb

and yeah where's duchovnywank? that surely had enough votes to get in?

fuck it, Ulillillia better win. Have you looked at his 'compatibilty/motive system'?

It is beautiful.

Theory of affector-splitting: "affectors split into multiple smaller attributes must have their values total the original". The affector for the case of something being exhausting to do as mowing the grass is for me (in section 5.1 above), this may be -4 as is. It could be split up into 2 smaller attributes - the stress it has on the body (a -5 affector), and the fact I'm getting exercise (a +1.3 affector) combines to make -3.85 which, due to rounding, is close enough to -4.
