quite a strange experience...

Recommended Posts

so my brother and i were driving around town the other day, and i thought i'd bring some listening material. so i brought my Geogaddi cd for some entertainment.

when 'Dandelion' came on, he literally pulled over and started pointing at the cd player with this shocked expression on his face.

"I remember that! I saw that show...everything was blue, and the lava was slowly moving around underwater!!!" he shrieked.

he had never heard of BoC up until then. i just find it weird that all the critics reviews mention how their music conjures up memories from childhood and my brother remembers watching the show where leslie nielson's sample comes from.

that is all. :shade:

it's really cool how BOC brings back memories and feelings of my childhood, and no i haven't seen any filmboards of canada movie or anything like that. it's just something about their music that's original, weird, beautiful and amazing and at the same time fucking terrifying.

my dad used to rent all the NFB movies from Canada Place downtown...and set up the reel to reel and sit us all down to watch these films on the wall.

apparently, as a child not knowing what moving images were, i'd cry whenever the pictures on the wall started moving...which makes me agree with the 'fucking terrifying' comment by derelic

Guest lands end road

I remember watching many NFB films at elementry school as child and I also remember the little short animations and other tid bits that would come on before the news that I always watched with my dad. I remember those films were always depressing and would put me in a very strange, sad and terrible mood. Even if the subject matter was intended to be uplifting. At the time I saw those films I couldnt figure out why they would make me feel like that, but now when I think back on it, Im pretty sure it was because of the really poor film and sound quality as well as the locations.

i hear my dad calling my name in some of their music :fear:

another strange experience i had a few months prior to the one that started this post was listening to Gyroscope and biking home from work.

i worked at a dollar store near the outskirts of town during the summer, and there's this huge research park just a few blocks away.

and all the buildings were built sometime during the 80s...you can tell just by looking @ the architecture.

anyways, i get near the research park, and this man comes walking out in a white labcoat and goes into this small orange hut that had a green light on it...and when he entered the light when red and there was a huge sign that read 'Stay Clear When Red Light Is On'

all while i had some creepy child voice counting off numbers.
