we tapped the heaviest friend to be the vine tester, because if it didn't break on him, we could make it.

he began to swing and, with zero resistance, the vine and he fell about 8-10 feet, face down.

i gasped in terror, he came up and asked "where's my hat?", and then i exhaled laughter for a long time.

Yeah, I'd presume that Calum is the same age (14-16) and obviously immature.

I think he likes drum and bass, so I'm going to imagine that Calum's a bit of a chav and that he and his friends bully this kid regularly. The fat kid would honestly believe that these guys are his mates because his self-esteem is so low. And who are we to argue? Obviously the kid needs more genuine friends, but when you're the victim of bullying and teasing like that it's hard to see through it.

I don't blame Calum, he's just young and hopefully he'll grow up to be a more responsible person and regret the things like this that he did in his youth.
