Roygbiv MIDI

Well, they were posted originally here: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/30552-boc-midi-files/

I also used this thing called 'Google' (I know, what a silly name - this company is doomed to fail), and it's this new software thing called a "search engine" (I know - how can a computer program have an engine?), and it works by putting in what you're looking for (in this case, "ROYGBIV MIDI"), and it does some computery stuff, and returns what it was able to find across the entire internet (This Google place must have a lot of people browsing web pages all day - man, that's like my DREAM JOB!).

Anyhoo, here's what it found that might be of interest to you (and others):

I eventually found the file on one of the BoC Yahoo! Groups. I just wanted it to make a little Neptune 2 vid;

Not at all. I believe (at least many people seem to think) this was originally done with a 101. The neptune 2 can have a very 101 like character I think. But to be honest I've gotten much closer previously with this sound. Rushed this one a bit :unsure: Just wanted to post this as I have a new found love wih my Neptune 2 again. It's a funny thing. Sometimes I love it. Other times I feel like I can't get a decent sound out of it! I guess that's analogue synthesis for you. No patches to call on in times of trouble. Must say though it's sounding quite splendid with a bit of Reverb & compression from the TC Electronics M350 :biggrin: I'm going to do another vid with some more sounds soon.

No modulation or effect was used ...... actually there may have been a bit of analogue distortion or fuzz added on the Neptune 2 itself. There's a bit of beat between the oscillators as I was tuning these a little as I recorded to gt some detune effects. Went a bit mad with that & I think that's what gave the wobbly rave like sound. Probably would have been smoother with the oscillators 1/2 synced with a bit if sub bass from osc 3. In any case it's a good way to learn sysnthesis by trying to emulate other sounds ..... and what better sound to emulate than the Roygbiv bassline :-) It's a great sound.
