Classics

What is the verdict on this album? I am a huge fan of his ambient stuff, and some ppl tell me that this album is ambient and others say its techno? I want to look into purchasing it, but I don't want to purchase something that is garbage. With RDJ I have mixed feelings, so I want to know what you experts think of Classics, or any other compilation album or whatever.

classics is probably my most listened to Lp by the phex, quite aggressive hard techno which is great for cycling around with (specialy those mescalinum utd rmxs whoa! the aliens have landed indeed.)

unfortunately, he rarely did anything like SAW II ever again. the style surfaced occasionally on later records, like On (28 mix) for example, and the drone track on AB3

for good ambient suggestions, you could just take it up in the music board.

Polynomial C is excellent, but make sure you know what else you are getting into, it gets a lot more aggressive (which i'm sure you'd be okay with). the comp is just the Xylem Tube EP, Digeridoo (with both alternate tracks), the two "We Have Arrived" remixes, which i'd say are the harshest on the album next to dodeccaheedron. and then it has a track called Metapharstic and a live version of digeridoo

When I first bought it years ago...I didn't like . I listened to it recently and...it's not that bad.......it's still my least favorite Aphex album .

why dont u just download it before you buy it? if you dont like it (and for some reason i can imagine that) then just dont fucking buy it. are you from the stone age? i always download before i buy, im not gonna buy anything that i dont know what it sounds like...

the 28th? On mix (wasn't it rumoured that this was a track that was supposed to be in SAW II?)

Also CLASSICS is fucking noice, its worth it for Digeridoo and Polynomial C alone imo (although I only payed 5op for my copy so maybe I'm not one to talk :P)

Also Analogue Bubblebath 3 (track from Trance Europe Express compilation), also used as backing track for The Garden of Linmiri and also Aphex Airlines (From Ambient 4; Isolationism) hehe.

Classics is amazing!

Some of my favorite tracks off that album are...

Flaphead,Isopropanol,Polynomial-C,Tamphex (Hedphuq Mix),& Dodeccaheedron,

Those tracks listed are amazing!

Digeridoo is a fucking Classic (with a big capital C)... of EVERYTHING.

The tune should get more attention , it was a turning point , it changed the game (in my opinion)

if you like classics check out the recent new(old) afx

I have a soft spot for the old analogue sounding stuff which isn't as pretentious and overcooked as his digital era which is starting to sound a little clinched these days.

Vibert played some old school Aphex in a set last year and the raw sound really cut through kinda like Clark's material now (not sure if the kick off with the sound engineer during the track had anything to do with it)

Saw Vibert last week and it was all the old school tracks that kept me on the dancefloor the whole night. He played analogue bubblebath, Quoth and his LFO remix... I couldn't have been happier hearing these.

classics can get a hell of a lot darker, but with a few really beautiful tracks thrown. Both sides of the early Aphex rainbow.

i must be getting old.. thinking that in 2010/2011, someone who posts on an electronic music forum has not heard classics, just boggles my mind! it was one of the first electronic albums i bought!

aphex twin is more mainstream than dnb and dubstep now, i hear the little kids at the skatepark blasting it

oh noes i better start listening to kanye west instead.
