Selling records on Discogs

I've been buying records on Discogs for years now and I'm thinking I'd like to open up a small electronic music shop on the site. Does anyone on this board do the same thing? If so do you get your records from a wholesaler or can you approach Warp, Planet-Mu, Skam etc directly?

hmm ... i've sold hundreds of records on discogs, but to buy them wholesale and then sell? you'd have to buy thousands of records to actually make anything in terms of profit margins. record companies don't just let any random person buy records wholesale, i'm guessing you'd need an invoice and actual record shop

All about distribution companys isn't it? A nice idea, but you'd need to send some emails off to those guys.

I'm sure Mu etc WOULD let you buy records. I doubt you'd have to sell 1000s to make money, but the profit margin would be negligible for having boxes of records sat around your house for years whilst you try to flog them. I'd email Mu and ST Holdings, those guys have a pretty decent net presence and would be likely to reply. Best of luck though man, would be interested to know how it goes!

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to send out a few emails to the record companies and I'll post back if I hear anything.
