Does your significant other listen to the music you write?

The title pretty much says it all.

I ask because I send my girlfriend every song I write, regardless if I like it or not. I even send her ones that are not finished. She says she likes them and then never really mentions them again... This morning I looked at her blog and she posted a Lady Gaga cover, and I was like "Man, she's never posted my music". Other music she has posted includes:

Caribou (Which I love, I don't really dig Andorra or Swim, but The Milk of Human Kindness is one of the greatest albums I've listened too)

Feist

Girls

Laura Marling

Ect ect ect.

I don't really care if she doesn't like my music, I know she respects it. I'm just curious if anyone is in the same situation I am in.

yeah she's very critical too. something's always out of tune or too noisy etc. she wants to hear a pop song. i should just make her a pop song.

I don't think it should matter now looking back, its pretty irrelevant to an extent as long as they respect it. I had a girlfriend that was eventually extremely heavily into my music and that was the most unhealthy relationship.

the worst thing you can do is try to make music that your bitch will like just because she isnt giving your music enough attention. when your music isn't honestly from yourself there's a dangerous loss of dignity possible there haha

and responding to a post by BFC (I think). I once tried writing a song for her, hated it scrapped it and never tried again, I can only write music for myself. It's the only way I can be creative.

My ex did, I could always get an honest answer from her and she even helped me with melodies once in a while.

i've never really told any of my exes*. or many of my mates. it's something i keep to myself.

up until recently, i didn't even post much stuff online...

*one exception, i did a live set over msn back in mid 2006ish for a girl who i'd had a brief thing with earlier that year, then became good friends.

we lived together for a year, and she bugged me for a finished cd for ages. i never got round to finishing anything that i was happy with.

met up with her in february this year, had dinner, was great to see her. beautiful girl.

i think i've gone off topic again.

Every once in a while I get emails from random people in Slovakia or someplace that tell me they like an album I released like five years ago. Weird.

Don't think she really likes it but she has shit taste in music anyway

Mine too but I know she'd rather listen to salsa.

I used to think one of the hugest requirements for a girlfriend was a similar taste in music and have slowly learned that's one of the least important things I should worry about.

My last gf and I both write electronic music and share/critique each other's stuff, it's great. Aside from that here in Montreal I've met a fair amount of the opposite gender who are into electronic experimentation, there's even special courses taught by ladies for the ladies on circuit bending and shit.

No type, that brings back memories.. these folks were putting on tons of experimental electronic shows back when I first moved to Montreal. The city has changed, the scene is still there but not quite as crazy as it used to be.. Or maybe I'm just older and I don't get out as much as I used to.
