Just ran across this album and fuck it's great. Some pretty obvious Dilla influences and also a little reminiscent of the Avalanches' Since I Left You. But it's really well done.

I'd never heard of them before, but apparently they're French dudes with wicked sampler skills.

hmmm. pretty basic stuff there. IMO, good sampling and beat construction is more than just sampling a few bars of a soul record, slicing on quarters, and rearranging the slices.

 

also, not really feeling the sample material that much.
