HIP BOC

Thats right gents you heard correctly. Some(hint: some) Hip hop and *gasp* Boc patterns actually align more perfectly than the planets. Discovered this a while back, but with that Gandolfmaster flash thread, figured i'd start up a thread with a more centered taste. So heres the premise: what hiphop artists do like mashin/mixin with boc? personally, i've found a lot of immortal technique's rhythm to coincide with a lot of (dark)boc tunes (finity, forest moon, chinook, vegetarian soup, etc). i'd say some madlib is up there too.

tonzol old seed please cite your favorite rap records. honestly it was telephasic which got me into them, which is kind of a trance thing, but the sampley quality of the Boards was evident. as you know, they wisely sample themselves, and liken their sensibility to RZA.

so, like finding that gem loop, that magic moment in a track to loop, (i guess that's what they had in mind for Spiro?), they create those, possibly by jamming for hours, and when it comes together, not to say they aren't calculated as i image them, then they jam that puppy in and out and drop some wavey synthesizers on them.

sampling has been a fascinating musical adventure for me. DJ Premier has a cd, or a collection of files called "Originals" where he evidences many of the original tracks he has sampled to create the dopest Gangstarr hits. BOC do this too, but, not unlike the old tunes, no amount of crate digging will reveal source. that's because they made them in their basement.

i'll cite the first Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth EP, Daily Operation, and the Hieroglyphics Eye Examination single as the bees knees in getting ill.
