Guest jimbobuk
I'm looking at putting some nice melodic tunes into the background of some home movies i've been shooting of my new nephew. In thinking of suitable tunes I got to thinking of trying to make up a mix of tunes that could perhaps be played to him to soothe him to sleep, whilst at the same time opening his mind to my kind of music from a really early age. So I put it out there.. can anyone recommend any tracks, albums, or artists that have a really nice melodic and gentle sound, something a little music box-esque perhaps. Cheers!! Guest jimbobuk
There are no real rules... I personally always enjoy the odd more gentle tracks like i've described, any tracks that manage to balance that sound with a glitchy or otherwise more hard core crunch even better.. So anything anyone can think of that hints at these subtle melodic piano/music box vibe then i'd love to hear it.. I was searching youtube last night, found the nannou track and some random comment there put me onto a track by trentemoller, someone i'd never heard of... his "The Last Resort" album grabbed off emusic and listened to today at work and i really enjoyed a lot of the tracks on it... The track this commenter originally raved about was Miss you, i'd link a video of it if that's ok? But yeah this track certainly has what i'm talking about.. lovely reverbing melody, echo-ing clicking percussion, background synth sweeps. Guest jimbobuk
Arovane's Ambelio off of Atol Scrap Bola's Waknuts off of Kroungrine (has elements that sound right, others that are perhaps a bit too out there for this purpose when it gets going) Christmas Baubles' Nuo Comp off of Christmas Baubles and their strange sounds Eluvium's Radio Ballet off of Copia (love the melody) Secede's say i said so off of Bye Bye Gridlock Traffic (probably the perfect example of my kind of music in this style. Would have to be worth seeing if the baby could take the beats) Autechre's Yulquen off of Amber (I do love early autechre... lovely) BOC's Concourse off of Boc Maxima (BOC's sound is so evocative of childhood anyway, they're mini tracks are all easy fits) Bochum Welt's Fortune Green off of Feelings On A Screen Casino Versus Japan's warm windows off of Go Hawaii Clark's Night Knuckles off of Body Riddle (manic music boxing) Eluvium's Indoor Swimming At the Space Station off of Copia (not really suiting my original description but its soothing and a nice tune) Frog Pocket's Plinty and Baral Orgen 2 off of Gonglot Isan's vosill off of Beautronics Proswell's At The Dock and Duck off of Carrot Dossier Secede's crave & fall off of Bye Bye Gridlock Traffic Ten and Tracer's dragon simply speaking off of Companion out of my top rated tracks in itunes. They're all awesome tracks in my opinion if anyone hasn't heard any of the artists mentioned do try listening to any of them Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/55548-electronica-for-babies/#findComment-1304349 Share on other sites

Guest iamabe
"Not for Threes" by Plaid is a pretty cutesy album with lots of cute-ass melodies. There is some great bubbly steel drum type stuff in the middle of that record. Otherwise I suggest Venetian Snares' Nymphomatriarch for the womb-sounds that will surely nurture your nephew On 4/22/2010 at 2:41 AM, Capsaicin said: death fuck mental beats SAWII disc 1 track 5 73-yips (pancake lizard) pancake lizard RULES Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/55548-electronica-for-babies/#findComment-1305859 Share on other sites
