I'm shit when it comes to networking pcs so im hoping someone here can help out please

I have a laptop running vista and a pc on xp home ed.

The laptop has a wireless connection to a router with its internal wifi card

The pc latches onto the same connection but using a usb wireless stick. TL-WN321G to be exact.

I wanna get it so that the 2 machines can share files between them. preferably wirelessly.

The PC is behind a zonealarm firewall and the laptop using windows firewall.

Any ideas?

vista - xp sharing across a network can be a huge pain cos they use different protocols.

basically you need to enable file sharing

then change the properties of the folders you want to share so file sharing is enabled for them

you may need to also change some permissions on the folders

at this point you'll notice it's broken and doesn't work

this is your best bet (involves regedit)
