good film, t f mou's "men behind the sun", sequels not so much, except "black sun". more mou films wanted; also, see YouTube for interviews and insight into this Chinese propoganda-entertainment classic.

supposedly one of the scenes was a real operation, but I'm not too sure I buy that

saw this the other week...brutal

731 is fascinating and horrible.

Never heard that info, but they supposedly used real corpses in a scene (furnace scene.)

I think this is actually a well-made film, especially for a gore film. As expected, very downbeat, and not nearly as horrifying as the events its based off of.

Avoid the sequels, as they're low-rent versions of the same story basically (though I don't think I've seen Black Sun, which was said to be good above.)

Also, be warned, the cat scene is going to get you if you have any compassion towards animals.

who is worse: someone that would do these things, or someone that would sell a reenaction of them
