What ever happened to 'you break it, you bought it."?

Where did that policy go to?

saw some crazy pill lady walk into Starbucks today w/ a backpack on and she brushed passed a display table w/ a french press on it which then fell to the floor and shattered. it was lol because she didn't even look back or bother to acknowledge that it even happened and it was really loud too. then she sits and plugs in her laptop and the baristas swarm over it like little 5th Element robots. what happened? did some ceo watch Miracle On 34th St. and just decide to endure all losses to keep klutzy people happy?

i do not break things, and i live in canada, so i don't understand the basis of this thread.

Some real constructive discussion.

Personal responsibility? pfft forget it. The baby boomers saw to it that little johnny or in this case our mary never had to worry about publicly being scolded or reprimanded, cause that would somehow imply the parents were at fault, and that would besmirch the good name of Dad, the outstanding company man.

Yeah sure if mom or dad find out, big trouble, but in public? no way, it must have been the store clerk who set up the display with lousy fault tolerances.

It's fucking bullshit, those kinds of people have no concept of responsible citizenship or social mores.

moddin' ain't easy

I don't think they pay anyone working in a starbucks enough to worry about reprimanding others. The baby boomers saw to that too.

Shops that are owner operated still operate on this premise, I still see the ^sign now and then.

yeah good point there too Food.

wage slaves, why would they care.

i was in 7-11 once late at night and there was this clearly drunk 45 year old dude on line to pay for a glass container full of salsa. he ended up dropping it and it shattered to shit, salsa all over the floor. the guy behind the counter was cool and told him it was OK and that he didn't have to pay for it. But this guy fucking WANTED salsa that night, so he goes and gets another one and gets online again. 2 minutes later he drops that one too, shatters, salsa all over the fuckin place...had to pay for that one tho heh.
