he makes my blood boil. my mom sent me a chain letter about him a few months ago ("toughest sheriff in the usa!" type thing) and i didn't think much about it until this whole story came up and i read more about him... he really is scum. i don't understand how one person can be so cruel to others.

I'm glad WATMM is at least saying this is racial profiling upfront. I'm sick of people saying "this will lead to racial profiling" because the law is based on that concept. I mean honestly, the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in Arizona aren't white Canadians. And of course Mexico is pissed, the elitists there could care less of immigrants on the border, and the government is more concerned about remittences from the U.S. than the rights of immigrants in limbo.

I'm not a bleeding heart liberal about this either, I know someone almost killed in a hit and run and the perpentrators ended up being drunken day laborers here illegally, driving in a car without registration or insurance. It's agitating that lefties are assuming all illegal immigrants are innocent families and workers or that right-wingers act like they are all criminals or scam artists...it's way more complicated than that. I really have no moral issue with the intentions of the lawmakers either, BUT this law isn't going to address border violence or really even crack down on crime, immigrant related or otherwise. It won't contribute to more border security, if anything it will delay increases in such efforts. This won't target drug smugglers or human traffickers, it will just lead to inefficient and misguided policing. It's vague and alarming, for the sake of civil liberties in general, this law needs to go.
