Is anyone familiar with this genre? I saw it brought up in another topic (the DJ Nate/Planet Mu signing one), and it reminded me of seeing it in the past but never truly understanding it or pinning it down.

Are there artists specifically defined as Ghettotech? Or elements of a track/artist that makes it so? I like the sound of it but don't know what it sounds like.

I would imagine it's like a combination of gritty rap and electronic music, like this...

...but I'm pretty sure that's not what it actually is.

On a side note, Clipse's "Hell Hath No Fury" is one of my favorite mainstream rap albums.

Of the Ghettotech I've heard, I fucking love it. If anyone could post the essentials, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, this is indeed the genre in which one of its best known songs is "Ass-N-Titties" by DJ Assault

Disco D is technically Ghettohouse, since he was from Chicago and the BPM isn't as high as Ghettotech (which is 145 to 170 bpm). Both Miami Bass and Ghettohouse are older genres from the late 80s and early 90s, and all 3 genres in question mention non-pirate "booty" a lot.

One of the reasons it's taken kind of seriously has to do with the scratching ability of the better DJs at BPMs twice that of most hip-hop...
