Melodies From Mars is simple ,sweet and beautiful (in a very bizarre way). 10/10

I just saw AB5 online a few weeks ago going for the low low price of about $10,000. Think I might have to pass on that one.

i saw it in a record shop in bristol for £20. skint as fuck, couldn't even afford the bus fare so i didn't buy it. two days later when i had the money i went back, and it was gone. never been so gutted to miss a record.

and that was even before i knew just how damn freakin' rare it was.

aye, should have. didn't think about it though, also didn't know when i was gonna get paid.

still, there we go.

anyway, i haven't listened to either for quite a while but i like MFM - the demo version of logon rock witch (completely different song to the RDJ version but that's what it's called on mine) is fookin brilliant.

it's like a blend of elements from MFM (especially track 7 IIRC), softer caustic window, GAK (but darker), and maybe a little Bradley Strider. nothing like any other entry in the series. it sounds the most melted and loose out of all of them

basically it sounds like video game music

The first few tracks of Analogue Bubblebath 5 are my favorites, by far. Recently I've become interested in songs locally rather than globally and AB5 is a prime example of this. I like, in particular, the first few seconds of tracks 1 and 2. I get some sense of them as an engine that has a little bit of trouble getting started -- but it's exactly this trouble which I like so much: the timing and, perhaps, the reluctance of each track to get started builds anticipation which lately I adore!

As a whole, though, I think it's Donkey Rhubarbish more than anything. (If you must relate it to other albums). You're free to disagree with me, but I can just see the bears bouncing to this.

before anyone does any MFM track-by-tracks, keep in mind that the track order varies depending on where you downloaded it from legally bought it with RDJ's permission. I think it'd be a good idea to include the track times so we all know which ones you mean.

i actually don't think i've ever seen them in different orders

i've never heard cuckoo on this album, is it different from AB4?

1 - 9:02

2 - 5:57

3 - 0:33

4 - 4:26

5 - 6:41

6 - 6:16

7 - 4:54

8 - 6:42

cuckoo - i don't know, but you'll know it's cuckoo hopefully

I have some songs that I attach to vivid memories and Untitled 1 from AB5 is one of them. The first time I heard the 320 rip of it was when I put it on for a bikeride along the boardwalk at the beach. Rad as fuck. That's the only track from AB5 that I actually dig though, lol.

4:13 from MFM has got to be one of AFX's grooviest tracks. The squelchy infectious bassline and those trademark MFM drums are so addictive! The second half of 5:11 is quite good, too.
