glam is the best.. but it's not live. it was originally commisioned to be a soundtrack for some shite called "gangster glam," except the film didn't want the music once they heard it. of course, the movie never got finished and jan & andi decided to release the music anyway (in a much altered form). jan told me that lots of the sounds in the album were created using video-to-audio converters, which explains why glam sounds so different from the rest of their work. the other "best" album/release has gotta be "instrümentals." this one is a lot like glam: mellow and basstacular. on a side note, I've tripped on acid/mushrooms/ketamine to glam more often than any other record, and it never did me wrong.

another record you need to check out is Autoditacker, which came out in 97. this was the first one I heard, and in many respects I think it's the most accesable of their "early" work. especially check the songs "tamagnocci" and "schnick-schnack meltmade" featuring Laetitia Sadier from stereolab.

one more thing... I have the version of wipe that sound with mark e. smith.. but only on vinyl =þ

I think they were referring to the topic being called Mouse of Mars rather than Mouse on Mars. Just got hold of their album Audioditecker, looking forward to hearing it.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

  • 3 years later...

the closest thing i've ever heard to mouse on mars:

matmos - a chance to cut is a chance to cure

it's actually a pretty great album.

mound magnet part 2 is so good, just recently heard it

i would recommend

jan jelanik - loop finding jazz records

and

vert - nine types of ambiguity

both are fantastic. the vert was released on sonig, MoM's label

i listened to radical connector for the first time in a while recently

actually got better with time. songs that used to annoy me now sound pretty amazing.

for instance, "spaceship."

also check out von sudenfed......
