How do you pronounce the "bass" in bass synth?

Do you pronounce it Bass as in the fish , to rhyme with Mass

or Bass as in the frequency range, to rhyme with Base? I have always known it as the first one but recently I thought that the second one probably makes more sense so I was wondering what other people did. Also I can't find the poll option which is strange.
