Adapted from a WWII radar circuit bearing the same name, the Phantastron is an all vacuum tube synthesizer. It can be used as a full featured oscillator, an effect for guitar synth and other instruments, or as a standalone instrument.

The Phantastron includes:

Control Voltage (CV) input

Audio Input

Line level output

Volume, Octave, Pitch and Waveform controls

The kit is built in vintage style upon a turret board, rather than a PCB. It is enclosed in a handsome fire-branded unfinished wooden case with aircraft aluminum panels.

Available here.

$200 is a bit much for the parts you seem to get. guess the cost is for cool

well, the actual parts certainly aren't $200, but they come constructed, so you pay for the enclosure, knobs, the mans time etc. IDK how much vacuum tubes are tho

edit: I guess they aren't constructed... You still are paying for the enclosure and stuff

i just meant the kit was priced a bit higher than it should be. for that price you should do a paia fatman

edit: $100-150 before someone asks.

but the fatman isn't a vacuum tube oscillator... to my knowledge, the only other option is something by metasonix or similar, and the prices for that sort of nonsense are even more recockulous...

I agree here. While a Fatman is a more "logical" and frugal choice, you know there are going to be people blowing their wads over the fact that it's "Got fucking vacuum tubes man!". As maus said previously, throw this in your modular and you could maybe get some cool sounds out of it. But at the end of the day most people aren't going to drop the money when they can get something more practical for far less.
