Gforce Imposcar 2 with dedicated hardware controller

Recommended Posts

Hmm, seems kind of silly to make such a chunky controller for a VST.. That thing is fucking enormous. Why not go the Creamware route and slap a DSP and a couple of converters in the thing and turn it into a standalone synth?

Speaks for itself really...well done Dave.

so dedicated hardware controller means it acts sort of like a dongle, won't work without it?

Yes, they asked a boutique controller maker to make a one off so Gmedia couldn't pirate their own software.

One off!? :_( Sad face.

I guess that's what the "see how this was made in the current issue of future music" or whatever.

Well maybe it's hopefully that he'll consider one 1/4 the size of that monster.

I'd buy one tho if it was around 600-800 for that and the software. Imposcar of one of the few soft synths that has kept my interest over the years.

I guess just for the purpose of live demos and internet videos. Or he just like gigantic controllers. Fine by me. Jupiter 8 is pretty huge.

Also, the vintage synth market has gone completely insane these days with prices. Real oscars are going for like $2500-3000. Don't get me wrong, I love vintage synths and certainly understand paying more to have that special vibe. But that's a bit off imo. Then again I guess oscars were less - mass produced than a lot of other popular vintages. Plus it's an analog digital hybrid with midi in later models. Still though...lots of cash that could be well spent on some other vintage stuff, notably those that are polyphonic.

In better news I saw a 303 go a few days ago on ebay for $1400 with an original case and in mint condition. Quite good price compared to what they are typically going for.

yeah but the Jupiter 8 has a reason for being huge. to be correct it has 16 reasons :whistling:

Indeed. I'd rather have an mks80 though. I wouldn't like that giant thing cramping my style. Even though they aren't exactly the same thing.

but....but what about the rainbow buttons?

Yeah I do love the old school roland rainbow buttons. Still tho....Jupiter 8 $4000-5000

Mks 80 - $1000ish

All the same, I'd rather have other things. One day I want to buy 5 arp 2600's, gut 4 and make a poly 2600.

i want a synthi 100 and a Yamaha CS-80

Yeah those are two other's I'd love to have. However there is a analogue systems module that copies the synthi filter. I'd still like a synthi though. cs-80 would be nice too. I'd likely take a synthi over the 2600 and cs-80 to start.

Edit: I blame Roger Waters
