adblock. do you run it?

just wondering how many people here are using some form of adblock.

been burnt way too many times not to have it on. I will disable it for certain sites, such as Last.fm, whose radio will not run correctly without ads.

i pretty much wouldnt use the internet if i couldt use adblock

i use flashblock but not adblock. ads dont bother me as much as unwanted flash content.

People got to make money and ive got an adblock in my head, im a stubborn twat, so i usually only see what i want/need to see.

Definetly use adblock.

Yeah pretty much the same for me. Ads aren't that bad on the places I frequent.

firefox plugin i'm presuming for most of ye?

if only firefox weren't such a memory hog, it'd be perfect.

Maybe I'm not using the internet/firefox the same way as you but memory has not been an issue with Firefox for several significant releases now.

At the moment I've got General Banter, this reply window, TMZ, a youtube of that sneezing panda and Engadget open for the sake of testing and its using 180mb of ram. I guess that is a relatively large amount of ram but its a drop in the ocean of 3gb that I have. I'm assuming most people these days are rocking at least 2gb?

With about 10-15 plugins. That's a lot of memory.

Anyway, yeah I use Adblock, NoScript and Flashblock everywhere.

Once you get 4 gigs of memory, it's no longer an issue. On a box with only 1 gig, it does suck, though.

I used to have chrome ad block but it sucked balls so I stopped using it.

Anyone know if its ok now?

Flashblock is enough for me

im using it and ive had no problems. occasionally an ad will load but it will disappear right away. and it uses a shit-ton less memory than FF does, so i'm happy.

Safari + ClickToFlash + Glimmerblocker (which is neat as it's not a browser plugin but a system-wide proxy). If Safari Adblock would run in 64bit mode i'd use that too. I want my net ad free, thanks. Product placement is bad enough.

Yeah, it leaves empty spaces where the ads are supposed to be and the loading speed is greatly affected. :c

i pretty much do whatever tech-savvy people on the internet tell me to do, as a result i use adblockplus

adblock makes browsing the internet almost fun again

I was using it, but it seems to be contributing to flash videos skipping and freezing when I try to stream shows and movies :(

edit: and my iGoogle homepage was all BUCT up until I disabled AdBlock ... so I dunno what's up! :(

i had that problem too, but i think it was cause i had so many tabs open, firefox autosaves the tabs so it can reload them if it crashes and when that happens the videos skip a little
