Drukqs limited edition vinyl

Recommended Posts

ok, a lot of these rumours i can't "prove" as i can't find the sources where i first saw them, but i'm just gonna say the following:

firstly, the rumour i heard that Richard D. James had personally checked the batch himself are total bullshit. maybe he checked one or two, but i doubt he'd have let that slip through (and yes it is audible).

secondly, it is not hand-numbered as wikipedia would have you believe (i'm about to fix that).

thirdly, the box for the standard edition vinyl is actually sturdier than the limited edition pressing.

a bit disappointed that i'm gonna have to send this back, due to the massive scratch on it

No they aren't 'super sturdy' but good enough.

Until one of your paraletic mates falls backwards and ends up crushing the whole thing under his arse. Which is what happened 3 weeks ago. The vinyl thankfully, was unscathed.

Seriously? There would have been ass kicking, even if the vinyl wasn't damaged.

What in the hell was it doing on the floor instead of it's shadowbox shrine on the wall you are supposed to erect for it?

We had sacraficed a few village virgins, and had drank their blood to the whole 4 records playing at opposite speed (obviously very loud to drown the screams out). Once this was done I put the records back in their chocolate box at which point the doorbell rang, I propped it up against my book shelf as my mind was racing at super-sonic speeds because the neighbour was knocking on the door and bringing over some trout which he had caught on his fishing trip to Scotland. At that moment in time fearing the blood running down the walls and our scarlet tarred faces were going to give our secret away, old Mr Williams turned and went back up the garden path. Bellowing with huge sighs of relief we drank a bottle of Makers Mark between us. Then my mate decided to go ice skating across the bloodied floor and almost ended up with Warp92X up his arsehole, and a huge circle like deformity in his throat. Though not over the moon at all this hullabaloo I've had worse evenings......

PS only a tiny bit of that story is true.....but I wonder which part?

Pretty sure the boxes are the same, just some were duff. Audiophile ones sold in shops had barcodes stuck over the originals for the standard version:

All of mine are pretty solid. I also found that a couple of the standard pressings were just as thick as the audiophile ones.

the vinyl of the standard pressing is exactly the same thickness as the audiophile one, because they were all 180 gram pressings. the only different between them being that the audiophile one is a virgin vinyl pressing done at RTI.

Well I had both versions already, but then this guy I knew who worked for warpmart was like 'Hey wanna buy mine? Its #0023 and sealed'

So 3 in total now.

the individual numbered was a circular sticker on the outer wrapped of the box --- mine reads 0005 and has the keyboard letters 'drukqs' on it

I have both, my boxs are identical the differences are the stickers on the shrink wrap

the ltd version comes with the Aphex logo stencils and the huge art 3 panel booklet,

both of my versions came with the poster and postcards.

i did compare the vinyl years ago and cant remember if they sound different, cant check now as i have an ear infection =(

mmm ive been meaning to ask about this for a while now. a few years ago i bought the standard drukqs box off of discogs. i was slightly disappointed when i received loose sleeves in this huge box. is that how it's supposed to come? or is there another piece that houses the sleeves and slips into the box? i cant believe the standard 4xlp doesnt come with the art book. balls.

There's supposed to be a black cardboard insert to keep the records and their sleeves in place and not slide about inside.

You did the right thing. You should have taken a picture and then show them on their 18 birthday. "This is how badass you were at 17 months".

Bumped..

Just spotted this on the bay - a sealed set of test pressings of the RTI 92X release. Claimed to be only 10 of these sets made.

If you want the very best possible copy of Drukqs on vinyl, this would be it - the first copies from the stampers. I can't afford the £150 minimum but maybe someone here can!

I think the seller is an ex-employee of Warp from what I can remember, having purchased from him before.
