Electronic Music In The Ocean

it's so amazing to me the similarities between some of the calls of creatures in the sea and sounds found in electronic music's.

someone really should make a decent concept album based completely on samples taken from nature (or just the sea). sea creatures

have particularly lovely tones they emit.

now i know that many artists have used various sounds from the sea as aspects of their music's-but what i would like to suggest

is that the whole structure of an album (whether it be ambient or more beat oriented) be constructed using these sounds as source material.

a concept album-not unlike the work matmos did using sounds from surgery on their album 'a chance to cut is a chance to cure'.

these seal calls are incredible!

dolphins are of course an amazing pop + click sound.

Also, I was in a band with this guy who liked nothing more than playing with an eBow, a slide, and heavy delay. He turned that guitar into a dying whale, it was amazing.

this is interesting-i'd be curious to hear any finished product you all might have come up with? do you have any recordings?

@ troon (dont feel like quoting you quoting me)

unfortunately, i don't. this was like 7 years ago when i was in college. i lost most of the stuff we recorded in a hard drive crash. he might have some, but we've not been in contact for a while. really ought to track him down. tbh none of it was all that GOOD (it was him on guitar, me playing my old DX7 [rip] and drum machines) but i have never heard anyone make that same sound from a guitar.

hope this thread inspires you somehow-you should try to recreate the sound yourself with the same effects.

do you have a guitar or access to a guitar?
