attn: Texas / Austin area watmmers

I'm gonna drive up there (to Austin) in an hour or so and get a hotel room. I need some entertainment and would prefer not walking around Austin alone, but it would be better than walking around San Antonio alone. Likely gonna stay up there until Monday.

hit me up! I will bring synths. and if you weren't aware there is an analog synth shop there called "switched on sound" which I plan to go to.

pm me or post in here. I'll hook it up with the digits. Also lol if no one posts in here. Should have planned this earlier but I thought I was gonna be working today, which I am not.

Ha ha. I live within walking distance of Switched On. The guys there are badass.

I work until 5:30, but after that I'm free 'til 11 or so.

Dude if I had gas I'd go there, I live in Houston and have been there twice drive isn't that bad. I haven't seen a synth in my life and would love to start using them or at least see one haha.

yeah the drive to san antonio from houston isn't that bad, save for actually going THROUGH houston is crap and I don't ever want to do it ever again. But yeah it's a str8 shot here so i assume it's not too different to austin. Plus everyone here drives like 100 mph.

I'm actually getting a place out there soon hopefully. Will turn it into my home base since i work with a traveling company and have spent enough time in NC. It'll be near LA though, not teh bay area.

Going to a barbecue here within the hour, but I should be around tonight - was thinking about hitting up the Beauty Bar; watmm member hobo d is spinning records tonight starting around midnight.

So, we just went to the switched on vintage synth shop. HOLY CRAP.

Let's see.. 2 polymoogs, old minimoog, korg mono poly, jupiter 6, nord leads, hammond organs, OBXA, two prophet 600's, sh101, 2 707's, tape echos galore, ciruit bent stuff, pro one, arp quadra?, litte phatty, doepfer stuff, sequencers, modulars, oberheim stuff, lots more in the back.

1st, I thought I'd never see a poly moog in person. 2nd most of this stuff is hooked up and ready to jam on.

Whark and I played the mono poly. Man what a synth, plus it's tagged at 1100 dollars which for the great condition it's in, is a great deal imo.

I bought a roland mks 50 (alpha juno 2 in a rack) and am having great fun with it right now.

May go out and check out these shows, not sure tho. Certainly anyone that's thinking about coming out tomorrow i'll be going back to the synth shop, and then will be doing the music thing. I've got a big hotel room with a separate bedroom for my bed, and the main room has a sleeper couch and i can get two more beds in here if anyone needs a place to crash. Got all my gear in here and whark's got his stuff.

yeah the korg mono/poly is a beast. If there is ever an argument between digital and analog, it is certainly a valid case study.

I'm currently hanging with some very nice biker guys/girls. They knocked on my door because they heard "techno" and thought there was a party. lol. This room is quite huge though, party is possible . This guy is giving me a funny look while i type this, because he is sitting next to me. He said to say his name is zed and he don't give a fuck TEXAS wooo!

I am crazy, but within safe limits. I wouldn't have let the bikers in if the nice girls hadn't been with them. And when I say girls I mean mid 40's women, but they might as well been girls :)

I was going to go out to rain tonight to hear some decent dance music, and dance, but i read that there's no alcohol sales on sunday? SO I didn't go, even though I wouldn't have been drinking, just seems like a dull time.

I spent the majority of the day playing with synths and talking to the cool people at switched on. Walked around downtown for a while and was invited to go swimming with some people I met at a cafe, but declined as they seemed a bit too sketchy for me, though swimming did sound nice, especially because it was sweltering today.

Been sitting in the hotel doing some music and watching movies since early evening. Hoping to find something fun to do tomorrow. If not though, I've been quite entertained so far and would consider it a worthwhile trip.

I'll likely be up till about 3am so any of you guys that wanna stop by, gimmie a ring ;) Just synthing about.
