Quantazelle Remix Contest + Free Samples (June 12 Deadline)

quanta-t-shirt_cyan.pngOver the years I've made a bunch of samples, and less than a fourth have actually made themselves into my tracks. I've dropped fancy objects, slammed doors, sang random things, banged on wine glasses, swirled a microphone in front of a speaker, made funny mouth sounds, got sketchy looks from the garbage men as I stood there with a microphone while they collected the trash, recorded the sound of opening JPGs in a wave editor, pushed envelopes where they shouldn't go, recorded my friends talking about music and much much more.

I realized, while making new tracks, that I have this crazy huge sample library, and it's a shame that it's not being put to use. So, I'm releasing it to the world, and I hope it does something amazing for someone, somewhere.

To launch my free sample library, I'm throwing a contest. Make a cool track with my samples and submit it to quantazelle@gmail.com before May 14May 28 June 12, 2010.

Quantazele Remix Contest

Additional clarification:

  • My samples are released under a Creative Commons Attribution license. You are welcome to use them in other tracks, I'd just appreciate credit, and/or hitting me up with what you've made.
  • Your track for the contest can use other sounds beyond the ones in the sample pack. Be aware though I'm judging the contest and recognize the samples, so creative use of them will probably give you an advantage. ;-)
  • The 3 winning tracks will be available on my website for download and play. Please make sure they are tagged with your name and the track name.
  • Email the finished tracks to quantazelle@gmail.com by the end of the due date. Include Your Name, Track Name, and a URL for promoting you (optional).
  • Tracks that have already been submitted will still be in the running.

Sorry for the confusion + good luck! -Liz

pretty sure I will be participating with a finished work on time, I missed around with some of the samples last night, ended up using a lot of different snippits but a manipulation on synth and the little vocal melody for "overcome" was the song title??? became the primary focus of the casserole

I got back to working on my track last night and figured the deadline was probably over but what the hell I really like what I have going, its using probably like 30 of your drumish samples for the percussion on the main section, time stretched and pitch bent your vocals from that overcome song and the main synth beat part as well

its pretty dark but also quite pretty, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am

thanks again for the samples

Sounds like a cryptic crossword clue or dodgy anagram.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I was going to do something for this, but all the songs I started with the samples ended up not having the samples in them (or remain unfinished).

I got completely lost in the insane way the samples were compiled (there were about a million snippets from some hip-hop track) so gave up attempting anything.

Ironically, I was playing around just now & made a song out of these samples. But even if the contest was still going, it's not really a "entering into a contest" song. I'd say it's not even a "mining tracks for my 34th album after I've become famous & died at a young age and they've used up the good songs" song. It's more of a "listen to once & then tuck away in an obscure corner of a virtual harddrive forever" song.

There are some good samples in here, in any case. One can never have enough "alternative" percussion & melodic female vowel singing samples.

So this was a hoax alright, never heard from Quantazelle after she announced the winners on her blog, also doesn't return an email.

weaksausage.

when the prizes are gift certificates for merch stuck sitting around her house and some old can't-sell-the-inventory cds, really, what do you expect?

she was essentially giving away nothing for this "contest." i mean, comeon, http://soundcloud.com/quantazelle --- anyone who makes these songs has no hope for life beyond the adoration of sycophants who have latent midget fantasies.

I confronted her about Jonas' claims in her live dj chat thing where she was just talkin to a few idiots

lol go to the bottom (I named myself watmmzor because it wouldn't let me put in any relevant alias in the chat name length)
