Guest Franklin
So it's def. more than just youtube now that I'm engaged in a full-out interweb crawl (if you're aware of my post in the youtube slowness thread). Basically most of the websites I'm trying to view are coming up fairly slowly if at all---by refreshing 2 or 3 times it will usually come up. When it does come up it takes MINUTES for something like a flash video to finish "loading" ... meaning I can't even see the play button or anything. The other thing is that ALL webpages are continuously loading (note the firefox "loading" symbol on the far left--the circle thing). WTF is happening. I installed an N-speed wireless router 3 days ago and it was fine till today--plus this computer is the one hooked up to the router by wire. also there are no other computers or other wireless devices on ATM. Also, I have done a speed test and my download speed is NOT the problem. I'm at about 11-14MB/S which is great for this area. I've rebooted my comp. like 3 times so it's not that. any help? GatorGreen
You might want to try temporarily switching your DNS servers to OpenDNS. I had speed problems with my ISP for a while, and apparently it was because their DNS servers were acting up. http://www.opendns.com/ You don't need to actually sign up for anything or install anything. Just switch your DNS settings to these two numbers: 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/56772-internets-speed-help/#findComment-1339111 Share on other sites

goffer
If you have having good speed tests it is more than likely a DNS issue. Give your modem a reboot, same to the router and if that doesnt work, try another name server like the ones previous mentioned. edit: Edited May 31, 2010 by goffer Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide goffer's signature Hide all signatures PHOTOS Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/56772-internets-speed-help/#findComment-1339120 Share on other sites
Guest Franklin
Thank you goffer. I haven't had a wireless router in a long time. totally forgot about rebooting. my broadband hookup has been flawless for the last 6 years needing no reboots. suddenly now adding the wireless router has maybe mucked that up. thanks again, I was losing my fucking mind. also thanks to everyone else:) except chassis of course Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/56772-internets-speed-help/#findComment-1339156 Share on other sites
