Perfect Game Ruined

did anyone see that kid get robbed of his perfect game last night on the tigers? there have only been 20 perfect games since 1880. and only once (i believe) has there been 2 perfect games in one season. this would have been the 3rd in a month. what a shame that an ump can change the course of history just like that.

there should be challenge system like in the nfl at this point in mlb.

i really hope they do. the kid was robbed of a celebration on the field in front of his home town and team but at least he would go in the history books.

my question is even if that was a bang-bang play (which it wasnt) how could you call that guy out with 2 outs in the ninth of a perfect game? in that situation, even a tie goes to the pitcher. he would have to be really ballsy to make that call in the 8th or even 7th but with 2 outs, bottom nine, you're out of your mind.

seems like the ump should stand beside the base instead of in front -where the runner hits.. it's a lot harder to judge distance when something's coming at you.

It's up to the umpire to position themselves at the best possible position for every play. Trust me, there are about a thousand positions as an umpire you need to learn, depending on everything on the field, they all change positions on every play and know this by heart.

Honestly, this is for the best. Baseball either needs to embrace video replay or not. This would have set a very bizarre precedent. E.g. If and when Selig thinks it's worthwhile, he'll possibly/maybe reverse a bad call.

No. Please, MLB, just learn from (better run) American sports like the NFL. Video replay works very well in the NFL and it's not like anybody is gonna complain about a 1-2 minute wait in baseball. The game is already slow. I think they need to speed up the game by requiring these fat cunts to leave the dugout faster between innings. Then, they can add video replay and still net a savings of 10-15 minutes off the average game.

Anybody ever notice how it's the same type player who always wants to call time, rub his tiny schrot, adjust his gloves, etc. every at-bat? It's the guy hitting a buck-ninety with half a dozen RBIs over the last month. He thinks if he bores the pitcher, he'll get a meatball in his mini-wheelhouse.

Fuck those guys. Ring 'em up with a strike or throw 'em out of the game when they pull that shit.

I love pitchers who work fast (most the good ones do) and batters who take one or two practice swings between pitches before locking in again (most the good ones do).

they really need challenges like in the nfl. they are always looking for new ways to grade the umps like qwest tech thingy. this way they can see which umps constantly get reversed by mlb and grade according to that as well.
