Analord 1-5

Got caught up in the whole ae release, here we are now with RDJ's classic Analord series, beginning with EPs 1 through 5! Have fun you sillies!

Can't we do the Analords two at a time, like you did the rest of the E.P.s? Make them last longer...

what the fuck is the point of these "week ##" threads?

I like the "week xx" threads. It's an excuse to go back and listen to the records, properly, with attention, as if hearing them for the first time, and talk about them with other people who are doing the same thing.

I've rediscovered/reevaluated a lot of this stuff, especially things I'd forgotten and/or discounted, since I've been participating. It's fun. Or at least, provides an entertaining waste of a few hours of time at work.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the Analords at work, tho. Will have to stick them on my iPod and listen tomorrow. Yay.

But please can we do them two at a time? There's so much, it's such a dense body of work.

what are we doing? could someone please point me at the original thread that explains what is happening?

for me, this is my favorite series of releases from richard. like i said about drukqs, this is truly the work of a master, who knows his business. effortless. hands down.

I don't really need these threads to have an excuse and listen to RDJ, but i get the point and i think it's a great idea.

I even tried the same thing on Plaid's subforum but it didn't work out. Too few people around there

Not so much as an excuse to listen, but an excuse to talk about it with other people who are also listening at the same time! (I love reading the track by tracks because that sometimes makes me hear different things in songs I've heard 100 times before.)

I like the analords for what they are, they're not as personal or as "aphexy" as his other stuff but they're still top notch music... I wont be writing track by track reviews but suffice it to say, as a whole i'd give them a 10/10 if they came from anyone other than richard.

Short and sweet.

Analord 2 is my fav analord of the whole series, so that gets a gold medal. Analord 5 is peachy too.

Phonatacid just drips feeds itself into the brain, I was and still am addicted to this track.

I am not a fan of the way the Analords were released, tbh I think it was a bit of a cock up. Apart from that gripe it's the usual madness. As another WATMMer once said 'the analords sounds like machines talking'. A human presence seems quite distant. I'd go along with that.

Mboom most people here have decided to do the Analords 5 per week. I originally had about 2-3, but oh well. If you think about it, the time duration is just as long (and sometimes shorter) as previous weeks.

why must you be so contrary? if you had no intent of deeming this thread as fanboy fodder, you would have contributed your favorites of the particular release currently in discussion, being that there is some really stellar work to be experienced and discussed here. i also feel that these threads allow fellow fans to release their pent up thoughts and emotions pertaining to a certain song or release put out by their favorite artist, not that aphex's music is in the slightest bit emotionally stirring in the first place...

Hello, can we have some of the Analords Fan Fiction about how everyone thinks they were recorded on this thread, please?

Because I'm still trying to think of a way to express how I feel about these records. There's just so much, and it's all so ... I would say dense, except these records are the opposite of dense. It's actually quite difficult for me to make a dedicated attempt to listen to them because it's like my ear slides off them. I find them much better to put on, on shuffle, when I'm doing something like painting or writing, that needs a certain part of my brain shut off or kept busy. And in that facility, they are absolutely BRILLIANT. But they don't work for programming (which is what I often use a lot of electronic dance music for, because they shut up a different part of my brain, so I can concentrate on left brain stuff.) It's almost like Analords go straight to the left brain for me, that's the only way I can think to describe it.

Sure, there are a couple of almost-popsongs that work on their own - I can sit down and listen to Where's Your Girlfriend or Crying In Your Face as pieces of music. But much of it, en masse, is really backbrain chatter for me. Like I said on another thread, like looking through an artist's sketchbooks to see how their mind works, how they assemble music (in assembly language or even machine language) rather than looking at a finished painting.

You know, maybe we should just talk about the tracks.
