I wonder if it will be Jaylib-ish, with Lotus rapping over Madlib beats, vice-versa (yes, Lotus has rapped before) or more of just an instrumental thing.

Also, new Lotus EP coming this year!

This is great news! Along with Autechre, probably the two acts I've been bumping the most the past couple years. I can totally see them putting out some sick tracks together. Now if only we could get a Madlib/Autechre collab... *head asplodes*

And Flying Otis is a great name, after the OJ Simpson collab would not be surprised at all if they went with that name, lol.

I concur with the above assessment

If you want dynamic range, get Cosmogramma on vinyl - much better.

thats truth. That album was made to be on wax. compared to Los Angeles the sound quality is notably less "lush", perhaps, but there is also quite a lot more going on

to me this statement just seems like a bunch of hipster wankery, no offence.

don't get me wrong, I love listening to records on vinyl, but I can't imagine he did a separate vinyl mastering. plus he would have no doubt recorded this entire album digitally so what's the point?

WRONG! Everything that gets put to vinyl gets a completely different mastering treatment. The way compression is handled is totally different. You can tell a big difference with some albums, especially albums that have a lot of slammed compression on their digital counterparts. For example, Body Riddle by Clark on vinyl has much more breathing space on vinyl.

As far as it being digital, this is a good point. But I do hope that they send off 24 or 32 bit renders out of the computer to the vinyl masters, because I would imagine this would allow for more fidelity to vinyl than the standard CD 16 bit.

Definitely gonna have to keep wathcing for this... FlyLo & Madlib together could be extremely epic.. maybe Madlib, will get him to tone down the compression a bit which is my only qualm about Cosmogramma, otherwise it's still a great album. And Medicine Show 5 kicks ass

Fact: Medicine Show #5 is Madlib's best album since Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2, even beating out Vol. 5-6.
