Tim Hecker

Just discovered this beautiful music, which ones would you suggest I get first?

I'd say start with Harmony In Ultraviolet or Radio Amor. Both are great releases.

An Imaginary Country is really good as well

Radio Amor and Harmony In Ultraviolet both come first in mind. I prefer Radio Amor for its strong nostalgic/melancholic atmosphere, though (see the video posted by Deepex above).

On first listening to the snippets, I would have favoured Ultraviolet and Country over Radio. A mistake?

haunt me haunt me do it again

Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do it Again was my first and what made me fall into love with him, HMHMDIA is the most freeform in structure, next is Radio Amor, and finally Harmony in Ultraviolet is pretty standard rhythmically but still great. Personally those are the only output of his that I like so deffo give those a shot and go on from there.

I discovered tim hecker recently too. Ultraviolet is my fav so far but i just listened to about half of his releases.

these are both great, tho I prefer ultraviolet. and do not prefer an imaginary country.

The first Hecker I heard was Mirages so I still sort of like it the best.

harmony in unltraviolet is really awesome.

Indeed. Could any one who owns it do a biggie and scan the cover? I can't find a good resolution image of it anywhere.

As I re-listen to "100 Years Ago" and "200 Years Ago" from An Imaginary Country, it reminds me of the Vuvuzelas used by the crowd in the World Cup. This should be FIFA 2010's theme song.

radio amor hands down! (his whole body of work is amazing though - my second favorite is an imaginary country)

I've seen this too. On CD it's still available though just direct through Alien8, so I got it there.
