just making the world smaller in general. think about it, before the internet, if you wanted to talk to someone on another continent, you either paid out the ass to call them up, or you sent a letter, which would take at least a week to get there. before phones, it was a week if you paid out the ass to send airmail. before that, it was all by ocean, and could take months. the fact that i can have a dialog with people from the UK, australia, and japan all at the same time would blow people's minds a mere 20-30 years ago.

but since we're not really being serious, lemonparty.

this also enables some unsavory elements to work up mischief together... you can mock terrorists all you want but their leaders probably know how to network

yeah there's that element as well, but i think it kind of evens out considering the amount of help the internet gives governments? i dunno. lemonparty.

my favorite contribution is all the varieties of communication it provides, letting you have different levels of closeness with various people. it's nice to be able to type something out, then send it. i can catch myself rambling, slipping off topic, and review for the chance of a cleverer word. the internet helps the not ready, or not in the mood for real-time folks enjoy socializing.

the best contribution to me is the ease with which one can share ideas and information

edit: with which widthwich
