(Also, if someone would be so kind as to photoshop me a jar of Marmite into a jar of Cornish Acid with Richard's gurning face on it, that would be most wonderful.) ZoeB
I think it's the first track from this album I liked (although we're going back a while here so I could be misremembering). It seems quite accessable: nice acidline, relatively laid back percussion compared to the rest of the album at least. Maybe it's too mainstream for you? :D Being the most accessable probably means it's the first for people to like, then as their tastes mature, the first for them to not like? Then again, I like Marmite. :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide ZoeB's signature Hide all signatures http://www.zoeblade.com On 5/13/2015 at 9:59 PM, rekosn said: zoe is a total afx scholar Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57336-cornish-acid/#findComment-1356700 Share on other sites

I'm pretty sure Cornish Acid seemed pretty accessible to me way back when I first heard this album, at least compared to most of the other tracks. Thinking about it now, Fingerbib and Goon Gumpas are a bit more laid back with even less manic percussion so maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention back then. :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide ZoeB's signature Hide all signatures http://www.zoeblade.com On 5/13/2015 at 9:59 PM, rekosn said: zoe is a total afx scholar Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57336-cornish-acid/#findComment-1356720 Share on other sites
Guest Masonic Boom
Nah, it's the least accesible track on the album, I think. It's just the way that everything is synchopated, I think - gives the impression that the drums and the acid line are just slightly out of beat with one another and I find it really hard to listen to unless I pay attention to it. It doesn't have that beautiful, transcendent, airy feel that the rest of the album has. psn
I think I dug this track right away when I first bought the album, cause it reminded me of the Nitzer Ebb and Front242 stuff i listened to lots in the 80s. Guest Masonic Boom
You gonna explain "Corn Mouth" / Carn Marth or is that some weird old injoke I don't get coz I'm a n00b? (Corn Mouth is a His Name Is Alive track, I thought.) It's amazing how someone can count a song as "part of the top ten reasons Aphex is great" but can't come up with a more convincing reason for me to like it than "suck my dick" - really, thanks, I'll pass on that one. Um, no. A lot of people mistakenly say Corn Mouth instead of Carn Marth because RDJ's handwriting on the back cover tracklist is atrocious, so many people think it says Corn Mouth (I even did at one point). The internet helps solve that problem, but for the people that were around in '96, Corn Mouth is the name lollolololololollolololollollololollolollo Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide bubbhasdance's signature Hide all signatures THATS HOW U NO U GOD WHEN YOU GOTA MODEL AND SHE THROW UP ON YO DICK BECAUSE ITS SO BIG AND YOUR IN A LIMO GOING TO A LIL B CONCERT - Lil B Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/57336-cornish-acid/#findComment-1358458 Share on other sites
Guest Masonic Boom
Ah! Thanks for the explanation. In '96 I still got most things on cassette, believe it or not. (in fact, to be honest, I taped so many albums off friends that there's actually loads of albums I don't even know what the cover *looks* like.)
